Former Chelsea striker Diego Costa has joined Wolves on a free transfer till the end of the current season.
Since departing Brazilian team Atletico Mineiro in January, the 33-year-old has been without a club.
As a replacement for the recently signed Sasa Kalajdzic, who sustained a cruciate injury on his debut, Costa completed his medical on Thursday of last week.
“It [my signing] wasn’t in the best terms possible on accounts of a player’s injury,” Costa said.
The former Spain international added: “I can only wish him nothing but the best for him.
“But when he [manager, Bruno Lage] told me about returning to the Premier League since this a championship I have related to quite a bit, always liked it and followed.
“No matter how much I enjoyed playing in Madrid, I felt discouraged, but this motivated me. It lit that fire within me.”
Costa, who is nearing 500 matches in his career, won the Premier League twice with Chelsea and numerous other awards during two periods with Atletico Madrid.
Last week, he participated in a trial with Wolves to determine his fitness and suitability.
Wolves have won just one of their six games this season, and as a result, they are currently 14th in the Premier League standings.
