Throughout the years, Will Ferrell’s 2003 Christmas movie “Elf” has solidified itself as a holiday favorite.
Despite the film generating more than $220 million at the box office at the time and producing a 2010 Broadway musical, a sequel was never made.
Ferrell, 54, has already spoken openly about turning down a $29 million deal to star in a sequel. Now, the comedian is explaining why he declined the multimillion-dollar offer.
“I would have had to promote the movie from an honest place, which would’ve been, like, ‘Oh no, it’s not good. I just couldn’t turn down that much money,’” the “Anchorman” star revealed in a recent profile for the Hollywood Reporter. “And I thought, ‘Can I actually say those words? I don’t think I can, so I guess I can’t do the movie.’”
