Wes Anderson’s followup to the Timothée Chalamet-starring 2021 film The French Dispatch is not only near, with a Cannes premiere planned, but it has also received its first trailer.
In Asteroid City, the director draws on a script he co-wrote with Roman Coppola, whose previous work includes several films by Anderson, including The French Dispatch and Isle of Dogs. A Junior Stargazer and Space Cadet conference is interrupted by some truly planet-altering developments in the 1950s picture, which is set in a fictional desert city.
Take a deep breath. The cast includes Jason Schwartzman, Scarlett Johansson, Tom Hanks, Jeffrey Wright, Tilda Swinton, Bryan Cranston, Edward Norton, Adrien Brody, Liev Schreiber, Hope Davis, Stephen Park, Rupert Friend, Maya Hawke, Steve Carell, Matt Dillon, Hong Chau, Willem Dafoe, Margot Robbie, Tony Revolori, Jake Ryan, and Jeff Goldblum.
This year, Anderson may release further new movies in addition to Asteroid City. Benedict Cumberbatch will star in the Roald Dahl adaption The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar, which is slated to premiere on Netflix at some point in 2023. A precise release date has not yet been determined, though.
