According to TMZ, Vogue is suing Drake and 21 Savage for the fake magazine cover they created to promote their new album Her Loss.
Condé Nast, the company that owns Vogue, asserts that neither the magazine nor its Editor-and-Chief Anna Wintour, whom Drizzy initially thanked online for approving the fake covers, “have not endorsed” the album “in any way,” and has contacted both rappers and their teams to remove all promotional materials that use the Vogue name.
In addition to seeking an immediate halt to the pair’s use of the Vogue name, Condé Nast is seeking $4 million in damages from the court.
“Me and my brother on newsstands tomorrow,” Drizzy initially wrote of the Vogue covers on Instagram back in October. “Thanks @voguemagazine and Anna Wintour for the love and support on this historic moment Her Loss Nov 4th.”
The first person to dispute the claim was Rolling Stone journalist Simon Vozick-Levinson, who tweeted images of the magazine’s interior and stated: “A street teamer just handed me a copy of this. it’s not a real magazine – it’s a photoshopped version of Vogue‘s October issue with a bunch of promo art for 21 and Drake’s new album. pretty funny stunt.”
The phony Vogue cover was just the beginning of a thorough promotion for 21 and Drizzy’s new album.
