UEFA fines England after fan uses laser pointer during Euro 2020 match against Denmark

England have been charged by UEFA after a fan shone a laser pointer at Denmark goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel’s face during the Euro 2020 semi-final at Wembley on Wednesday.

The incident came in the build-up to Harry Kane’s penalty in the first half of extra-time as Schmeichel saved the spot-kick but the England striker scored from the rebound which proved to be the winner.

According to Sky Sports, the governing body have also charged England for ‘disturbance caused by its supporters during national anthem’ and ‘lighting of fireworks by its supporters’.

UEFA stated: “The case will be dealt with by the UEFA, Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body [CEDB] in due course.”
