Elon Musk, the CEO of Twitter, has announced that the company intends to extend the character limit for tweets from 280 to 4,000.
The question of whether the firm intends to extend the character limit “from 280 to 4000” was asked to Musk on Twitter on Sunday.
Musk answered, “Yes.”
The change would be a significant one for the social media platform for microblogging, which has had its share of problems since since Musk’s $44 billion acquisition. In 2017, the corporation increased the character limit from 140 to 280, which was the last time it did so.
The timing of Musk’s response is appropriate because he recently made a surprise visit at Dave Chappelle’s stand-up performance in San Francisco, where he was primarily met with jeers. Musk awkwardly stood on stage with his hands in his pockets while Chappelle made jokes about all the Twitter employees Musk has let go since taking over the company.
