Travis Scott Performs ‘Mafia’ and ‘Lost Forever’ at 2022 Billboard Music Awards

Travis Scott performed at the 2022 Billboard Music Awards on Sunday (May 15), marking his second performance of the year and his first broadcast set since the Astroworld Festival tragedy in November 2021.

Scott is filmed on a stage that gives off wintry overtones, sporting a white thermal and beige bottoms while donning shades in a performance of his 2021 song, “Mafia,” that was played throughout the show. Travis’ performance at the 2022 Billboard Music Awards, which received a standing ovation from the audience at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, is the next move in the rap star’s attempt to put the controversy and anger surrounding the events at the Astroworld Festival behind him.

Last week, Sean “Diddy” Combs, the host and executive producer of the 2022 Billboard Music Awards, revealed in an Instagram video that he personally lobbied to have Scott perform at the show. “This just in,” Diddy said in the clip, which was posted on Monday (May 9). “For the Billboard Music Awards this Sunday I made a request; I made a demand. I said, ‘My brother Travis Scott has to perform. I’m executive producing, he has to perform,’ and NBC said, ‘Yes.’ It’s going down Sunday, Travis Scott will be performing … now that’s love.”

Scott was accompanied at the 2022 Billboard Music Awards by his girlfriend Kylie Jenner and their 4-year-old daughter Stormi, who has been mostly out of the spotlight recently. The couple welcomed their first child, a baby boy, into their family in February.
