Travis Scott Delivers First Performance Since Astroworld Fest Tragedy

Travis Scott made his first public appearance since the Astroworld tragedy on Saturday night in Bel Air, California, at a private, celebrity-packed pre-Oscars home party.

Scott’s brief performance, which comprised a combination of rapping and DJ-ing at a gala apparently attended by Leo DiCaprio, Venus and Serena Williams, YG, and Tobey Maguire, was originally reported by TMZ.

Scott performed his single “Sicko Mode” for the house’s guests on Sunday morning, marking the first time he’s performed in front of a crowd since the Astroworld festival tragedy in November 2021, when ten fans died from injuries sustained during a tragic crowd surge at Houston’s NRG Park.

While Scott hasn’t exactly remained out of the spotlight since the incident โ€” it’s difficult to avoid the spotlight when you’re dating a Kardashian, and he’s attended public events like basketball games and Super Bowl parties in the months since the tragedy โ€” his attendance at the pre-Oscars party suggests he’s readying to resume his music career, despite the numerous lawsuits he’s currently facing.

The rapper and the Astroworld promoters have been sued by the relatives of the fatalities as well as hundreds of individuals injured in the crowd surge, including a $2 billion class action lawsuit. Aside from the acrimonious legal fights, Scott recently unveiled his Project Heal event safety effort, which has been slammed by the relatives of Astroworld victims as a “PR stunt.”
