After 16 months in charge, manager Antonio Conte has left Tottenham Hotspur by mutual consent.

After Spurs’ most recent draw against Southampton, Conte had a surprising press conference when he referred to the team’s culture as “selfish” and criticized it.

Tottenham is currently fourth in the top division but is not participating in any cup games.

Ryan Mason, a former midfielder, will serve as Cristian Stellini’s assistant for the remainder of the season.

“We have 10 Premier League games remaining and we have a fight on our hands for a Champions League place,” chairman Daniel Levy said.

“We all need to pull together. Everyone has to step up to ensure the highest possible finish for our club and amazing, loyal supporters.”

When Mauricio Pochettino left in 2019, Spurs have been hunting for a new permanent manager every four years due to his departure.

After being eliminated from the FA Cup at the beginning of March by Championship team Sheffield United, they experienced a relatively easy elimination to AC Milan in the Champions League.

After Nuno Espirito Santo was fired by Spurs in November 2021, Italian Conte, who had previously coached Chelsea, Juventus, and Inter Milan and won league titles with those teams, was hired.

They had a lot of early consistency issues but a six-game unbeaten streak, which included a 3-0 victory over rival Arsenal, helped them finish in the top four.

With nine losses, four ties, and 28 league games played, Tottenham’s problems have persisted this season, raising concerns about the team’s playing strategy.
