Rapper Tory Lanez was convicted guilty of shooting Megan Thee Stallion, a fellow hip-hop star, in 2020.

The 30-year-old Canadian was found guilty by a jury in Los Angeles of carrying a loaded, unregistered handgun while carrying a loaded weapon, assault with a semi-automatic weapon, and felony negligent discharge of a firearm.

He might spend more than 20 years behind bars.

Rapper Megan Thee Stallion, 27, a Grammy Award winner, claimed earlier that she had been shot in the feet after leaving a pool party.

As the verdict was announced, Lanez exhibited no reaction. He was placed on remand and will be sentenced on January 27.

It was unclear at the time if he intended to appeal.

Speaking after the case concluded, one of Megan Thee Stallion’s lawyers told reporters “the jury got it right. I am thankful there is justice for Meg”. The rapper was not in court to hear the verdict.
