Tom Brady has announced his retirement from the NFL after 22 years and seven Super Bowl victories

After 22 seasons and seven Super Bowl titles, Tom Brady, the most successful quarterback in NFL history, has called time on his incredible career.

The 44-year-apparent old’s retirement was first reported over the weekend, but he later clarified that he was still considering his options. However, he acknowledged on Tuesday that his final game was last month’s playoff loss to the Los Angeles Rams with his Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

At an age when most NFL players have long since retired, Brady’s cutthroat devotion to winning was legendary, and there were few, if any, evidence that his abilities had waned. He was as steady and dominant as ever in his final season, leading the league in passing yards (5,316), touchdowns (43), completions (485), and attempts (485) (719).

His list of accomplishments is nearly as extensive as his professional career. He has the most Super Bowl wins of any player in NFL history, with six with the New England Patriots and one with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last season. He’s also the NFL’s all-time leader in throwing touchdowns (624), as well as passing yards (84,250).
