A massive forest fire in south Turkey continued for a second day, resulting in three deaths as the nation’s AFAD disaster agency and agriculture minister confirmed.

As reported by Reuters, there have been wide-scale efforts to rescue many while extinguishing the blaze that is yet to be put out.

The news outlet reports that the fire has seen over 100 people needing to be evacuated, requiring medical treatment, or suffered damage to property.

The blaze has spread across Manavgat after hot weather and strong winds heading east of Antalya, and nearby villages.

AFAD have stated that 122 people have been impacted by the disaster with 58 undergoing treatment. The country’s Red Crescent has sent food kits and staff members to support the region during this tragedy.

“Houses located in areas that could be impacted by the fire have been evacuated. Several homes, offices, farms, agricultural fields, greenhouses, and vehicles have been damaged by fire,” AFAD said in their statement.

This is one of several natural disasters that have occurred in Turkey this summer. Last week, flash floods killed six people in the Black Sea region.
