Due to a hamstring injury suffered in Saturday’s Premier League opener, Liverpool midfielder Thiago Alcantara is predicted to be absent for a number of weeks.
The 31-year-old international from Spain was taken off after 51 minutes of Craven Cottage’s 2-2 tie with Fulham.
Liverpool does not think the injury is significant, but he will undergo a second scan later this week.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Curtis Jones, two of their midfielders, are already absent.
Before traveling to Everton on September 3rd, Liverpool plays Crystal Palace, Manchester United, Bournemouth, and Newcastle in August.
