The Yeezy label of Kanye West has been fined $950,000 for making misleading shipping guarantees

In connection with a recent consumer protection complaint, Kanye West’s apparel company has been compelled to pay fines.

The Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office said Monday that Yeezy Apparel LLC and Yeezy LLC must pay $950,000 to resolve a civil case alleging “unlawful business practices and false advertising.”

According to the D.A.’s office, Yeezy is accused of providing misleading assertions about order shipping times, particularly when it comes to expedited shipping for which buyers paid an additional fee.

Items bought online must be dispatched within 30 days, or the firm must offer a written reason for the delay, according to California and federal law. If things are not supplied within 30 days, companies must give a refund or an equal product.

Yeezy is prohibited from “making untrue or misleading representations regarding a shipping timeframe” under the terms of the settlement.

According to the district attorney’s office, the apparel and shoe company will also be required to provide refunds to customers for any orders that are not shipped “in a timely fashion.”

“Online consumers are entitled to protection against unwarranted fees and unreasonably long waits for purchases to arrive on their doorsteps,” District Attorney Gascón said. “We will enforce state and federal laws governing online shopping in Los Angeles County.”

The $950,000 payment comprises civil fines and restitution to the Consumer Protection Prosecution Trust Fund for each of the four district attorney offices involved. The remaining funds will be used to compensate the four district attorneys’ offices for their investigative costs.
