The Weeknd’s new album Dawn FM will be accompanied with a “immersive music special” that will premiere exclusively on Prime Video on Friday.
The Weeknd x The Dawn FM Experience will turn the 2022 album into “a mesmerizing visual, producing a theatrical performance event that will engulf listeners in its eerie and melancholy atmosphere,” according to Amazon. The special will be available on Amazon Prime on February 26.
“Welcome to the next phase of Dawn FM—a purgatory otherworld where live performance, theater, and performance art collide for a night out at the club,” Abel Tesfaye said in a statement. “I’m ecstatic to partner with Amazon to premiere the most elaborate live TV special I’ve ever done.”
A trailer for the special doesn’t reveal much about its content, except that Tesfaye reprises the elderly guy persona he’s performed in Dawn FM music videos and on the album cover.
The Dawn FM Experience was conceived by The Weeknd, La Mar C. Taylor, and Micah Bickham, who also directed the program. In addition to the Prime Video exclusive, Amazon Music will stream an eight-track live EP taken from the special, and the Weeknd’s Amazon page will release a limited edition capsule collection.
