The Weeknd will co-star in his debut feature film with Jenna Ortega and Barry Keoghan.
The project was created by The Weeknd, who will also produce it and co-wrote the script alongside Reza Fahim and Trey Edward Shults and Reza Fahim. Shults will direct. The logline and narrative of the untitled film have not yet been disclosed. The Weeknd and composer Daniel Lopatin, alias OPN, will collaborate on the movie’s score. OPN previously contributed to the scores for Good Time and Uncut Gems.
In other news, The Weeknd just made history by being the first artist to reach 100 million monthly listeners on Spotify.
The Weeknd and Ariana Grande collaborated on a remix of “Die for You” last week.
Fans can watch Tesfaye in the upcoming HBO series The Idol in the meantime. Later this year, HBO will premiere the Sam Levinson and Tesfaye-created series. The show will also feature Lily-Rose Depp, Suzanne Son, Troye Sivan, Moses Sumney, and Jane Adams.
