The first trailer for the highly anticipated sequel to the animated Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse has released, revealing the title — Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (Part One) — as well as the surprise that Miles Morales’ upcoming adventures would be split into two parts.
The upcoming sequel will “transport Brooklyn’s full-time, friendly neighborhood Spider-Man across the Multiverse to team up with Gwen Stacy and a new squad of Spider-People to face combat against an enemy more powerful than anything they have ever met,” according to the official description.
Sony hasn’t revealed who the enemy is (though it’s probable the film may be based on the 2014 Spider-Verse comic crossover, which saw Morlun and the Inheritors assault the multiverse’s Spider-People), but whatever the threat is, it looks that it won’t be contained in a single film.
Part One of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse will be released on October 7th, 2022, with Part Two following in 2023.
