Since the summer of 2021, we have known that Oscar-nominated director Greta Gerwig will be in charge of the first-ever live-action Barbie movie. Lady Bird, her first film directed by herself, received numerous Oscar nominations in the 2018 event.
Gerwig appeared in Baumbach’s adaptation of Don DeLillo’s novel White Noise last year alongside Adam Driver, with whom she had previously worked on Frances Ha.
Following Barbie, a live-action Snow White is anticipated for Gerwig. The movie, which was written by Greta Gerwig and Erin Cressida Wilson, is helmed by Marc Webb and features Rachel Zegler in the lead role. According to current plans, Disney will release the movie in 2024
