“Squid Game,” the global TV success, would most likely return for not only a second season also a third season, according to its creator Hwang Dong-hyuk.
“I’m in talks with Netflix over season 2 as well as season 3,” Hwang said in an online interview with Korean broadcaster KBS. “We will come to a conclusion any time soon.”
After confirming an intention to produce another season in a media interview last month, the director-writer has hinted at the prospect of a third season of the most popular Netflix original series for the first time.
He stated that the narrative of Gi-hun, the eventual winner of the deadly competition for 45.6 billion won (US$38.9 million) in prize money, will be included in the following season.
“Squid Game” has dominated Netflix’s top popular rankings throughout the world since its official premiere on Sept. 17, hitting No. 1 in more than 90 countries where the streaming service is accessible.
With a total of 1.65 billion hours of viewing in the first four weeks of release, it also became the most-watched Netflix video of all time.
