Tesla is now worth $1 trillion, making Elon Musk the wealthiest person in history

Tesla has become the sixth firm in the United States to be valued at $1 trillion, which implies big bucks for Elon Musk, the company’s CEO and “technoking” guru.

Musk is now worth $255.2 billion, making him wealthier than he’s ever been and perhaps wealthier than anyone who has ever walked the globe before him, according to Forbes. According to Bloomberg’s Billionaires Index, the total wealth of the world’s billionaires is estimated to be $288.6 billion. This comes after Hertz announced intentions to acquire 100,000 electric vehicles from Tesla to use as rentals on Friday, boosting its worth by an estimated $25.6 billion.

Tesla took 12 years to achieve $1 trillion after its initial public offering, making it the second-fastest firm to do it behind Facebook, which took nine years. On Monday, Tesla overtook Facebook, which is now valued at $927 billion.
