According to Variety, Taylor Swift will be directing her first full-length film for Searchlight Pictures from a screenplay she wrote herself.

Over the past several years, the singer-songwriter has become more actively involved in creating her own music videos. In 2021, she will direct the critically praised short film All Too Well, starring Sadie Sink and Dylan O’Brien. She’ll now be working behind the scenes to bring her screenplay to reality, while specifics about the project are still being kept under wraps.

“Taylor is a once in a generation artist and storyteller. The presidents of Searchlight, David Greenbaum and Matthew Greenfield, released a statement saying, “It is a genuine joy and privilege to collaborate with her as she embarks on this exciting and new creative journey,” Nomadland and Summer of Soul, two films that won Academy Awards, were made by Searchlight, a division of Walt Disney Studios, along with countless other well-regarded works.

Swift became the first act to ever win Video of the Year for a self-directed video at the MTV Video Music Awards in August, making history in the process. Her 14-minute short film All Too Well, which she also wrote, received the prize. The Toronto International Film Festival and the Tribeca Film Festival both screened it in 2022.
