Taxi driver who traveled 75 kilometers to return wallet slams Manuel Neuer

Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer greatly disappointed a taxi driver in Bavaria by simply giving him a signed jersey after he returned his lost wallet.

According to reports, Germany’s sweeper-keeper Neuer forgot his wallet in the taxi he took at the Odeonsplatz region of Munich.

The driver, identified by Sky Germany as Hazir S., discovered the goalkeeper’s wallet in the backseat of his vehicle while parking to have it cleaned. The wallet included €800 ($782) and two credit cards.

Media reports claim that Neuer gave Hazir a signed jersey that was packed in a box despite having traveled over 120 kilometers back to Munich to get the left-behind wallet.

Expressing his dissatisfaction with the reward, Hazir told Sky Germany: “This finder’s fee is a mockery. I have four children. I can’t do anything with the jersey.”

The driver said he “recognized him immediately” when he picked Neuer and his friend from Odeonsplatz square in Munich’s center.

Hazir, however, asserted that he discovered the cash, a Platinum Visa Card, and a Black MasterCard in the goalie’s wallet a few hours after drop-off.

Shortly after his shift ended, the driver was unable to deliver the wallet to Neuer at either his home or the drop-off location. Instead, he managed to get hold of Neuer’s manager.

According to media accounts, Hazir was deeply dissatisfied with his reward—a Bayern Munich jersey with Neuer’s signature on the back—which came without a dedication or thank-you note.
