After purchasing live audio app Locker Room, Spotify have cemented their position in the audio chat world with conversations around music, culture and sports.
Along with Spotify, Twitter and Facebook are also ready to join the competition following the success of Clubhouse. Locker Room remains on the App Store as the audio streaming and media services provider is working on relaunching the app for Android and iOs for the coming months.
As quoted by Hypebeast, Spotify confirmed its intentions to transform Locker Room “into an enhanced live audio experience for a wider range of creators and fans. We’ll give professional athletes, writers, musicians, songwriters, podcasters, and other global voices opportunities to host real-time discussions, debates, ask me anything (AMA) sessions and more.”
According to Verge via Hypebeast, Spotify will be testing monetisation features including the hosting of paid chat rooms along with conversations becoming podcasts.
Spotify have long planned to expand its all-audio portfolio so continue to watch this space.
