According to the New York Post, Shakira has been keeping a witch-like mannequin on the balcony of her home in Barcelona, Spain, facing her neighbor, who also happens to be her ex-mother-in-law.
In June 2022, the singer issued a statement revealing the end of her over ten-year relationship with international football star Gerard Piqué. “For the well-being of our children, who are our highest priority, we ask that you respect our privacy,” the message reads. “Thank you for your understanding.”
When Shakira released “BZRP Music Session #53,” it seemed to address the fallout from their argument and the fact that her ex-mother-in-law still lives next door. “You left me the in-laws as my neighbors / Media outlets at my door and in debt,” she sings in Spanish. “You thought you hurt me, but you made me stronger / Women don’t cry anymore, they cash in.”
The mother of Piqué, Montserrat Bernabeu, reportedly begged Shakira’s staff to turn the mannequin, but nothing has changed, according to the Spanish television program Más Vale Tarde. Additionally, “BZRP Music Session #53” has reportedly been playing nonstop from her house.
