‘Scream VI’ Scoring Franchise High $43.5 Million Opening

The box office leader at the moment is Scream VI.

 

The highly anticipated sequel made $19.3 million on its opening day, including $5.7 million from previews, according to Variety. By the end of the weekend, the horror movie is anticipated to bring in a total of $43.5 million, which would be a franchise high.

 

In the sixth installment of the series, Jenna Ortega, Melissa Barrera, Mason Gooding, Jasmin Savoy Brown, and Courteney Cox play the former Woodsboro victims who have moved to New York City, where a new deadly Ghostface has set its sights. Along with authors Guy Busick and James Vanderbilt, Tyler Gillett and Matt Bettinelli-Olpin made a comeback to helm this movie.

The American opening weekend of its predecessor Scream from 2022 brought in over $30 million, followed by Scream 4 (2011) with $18.7 million, Scream 3 (2000) with $34.7 million, Scream 2 (1997) with $33 million, and Scream (1996) with $6.4 million.
