Robert De Niro To Star in First-Ever TV Series with Netflix’s Zero Day

According to Variety, Eric Newman, Noah Oppenheim, and Jonathan Glickman’s Netflix limited series Zero Day has cast the Academy Award-winning actor as the lead. Despite the fact that story specifics are being kept a secret, sources tell the publication that the program is a political thriller in which De Niro portrays a former US president.

Michael Schmidt, a Pulitzer Prize winner, as well as Newman and Oppenheim contributed to the narrative. The latter two have agreed to write and executive produce the show, which might be De Niro’s first leading role on television. The 79-year-old actor is most known for his legendary performances in blockbusters including The Irishman, which was released on Netflix, Taxi Driver, Goodfellas, Heat, and The Godfather. Throughout his career, he has appeared on television a number of times, including cameos on 30 Rock, Extras, and the HBO TV film The Wizards of Lies.

It has been claimed that De Niro and Glickman of Panoramic Media will co-executive produce Day Zero. Netflix and the creators have not yet responded.
