The sign language interpreter for the Super Bowl halftime show has received praise for “stealing the show” during Rihanna’s performance.
On Sunday night (12 February), Justina Miles was tasked with interpreting Rihanna’s halftime show for the 2023 Super Bowl, and fans were stunned.
According to CNBC, the 20-year-old is the first deaf woman to participate at the show and the first deaf person to ever perform the pre-show song “Lift Every Voice and Sing,” which was sung by actress Sheryl Lee Ralph.
Videos of Miles’ performance have since gone viral; the interpreter can be seen dancing wildly and signing along to Rihanna’s lyrics.
