The 50-year-old Grammy winner received a domestic violence restraining order just days after his ex-manager sued him for $3 million. The order, according to the Associated Press, was given by a Puerto Rican judge on Friday, but according to officials, Martin has not yet been served.
“Up until now, police haven’t been able to find him,” police spokesman Axel Valencia told the AP.
Although the identity of the petitioner has not been verified, various media sources claim that Martin dated the alleged victim for seven months before splitting up just a few months ago. These facts imply that the accuser is not Swedish-Syrian painter Jwan Yosef, Martin’s husband. They were married in 2017 and have four kids together.
According to a copy of the ruling obtained by the Puerto Rican publication El Vocero, Martin refused to accept the separation and spent the previous two months abusing the petitioner.
“[Martin] calls him frequently. In addition, the petitioner has seen him hanging around his residence on at least three occasions,” the order reportedly states. “The petitioner fears for his safety … the petitioning party demonstrated that there is a substantial possibility of immediate risk of abuse.”
Under the order, Martin is prohibited from “approaching, harassing, intimidating, threatening or in any other way interfering with the petitioning party.” He’s also barred from communicating with the petitioner, as well as the petitioner’s employer, family or friends.
