As it prepares to open some of its rebranded restaurants on Sunday, the Russian fast food giant that was previously known as McDonald’s has unveiled its new logo.
According to Reuters, the relaunched business, which has yet to reveal its name, will open its first 15 restaurants in the Moscow area on Sunday, followed by 200 more around the nation later this month. A green backdrop with a red circle and two yellow slashes suggest a burger and fries in the new logo. The new logo also resembles the letter “M” in form.
The revelation comes about a month after McDonald’s announced its withdrawal from the Russian market in the aftermath of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The fast food chain sold its 850 Russian stores to current licensee Alexander Govor a few days later.
“The agreement remains subject to certain conditions, including regulatory approval, with closing expected to occur in the coming weeks,” McDonald’s said in a press release.
“The sale and purchase agreement provides for employees to be retained for at least two years, on equivalent terms. The buyer has also agreed to fund the salaries of corporate employees who work in 45 regions of the country until closing, as well as fund existing liabilities to suppliers, landlords and utilities.”
