Ray J claims he never had any copies of the explicit tapes he made with Kim throughout their relationship in an interview with British tabloid the Daily Mail. “I’ve sat in the shadows for over 14 years allowing the Kardashians to use my name, to abuse my name, make billions of dollars over a decade-and-a-half talking about a topic I’ve never really spoken about,” he’s quoted as saying. “I’ve never leaked anything. I have never leaked a sex tape in my life. It has never been a leak. It’s always been a deal and a partnership between Kris Jenner and Kim and me and we’ve always been partners since the beginning of this thing.”
Kim sued the corporation behind the sex tape for violation of privacy when it first appeared in 2007. She eventually abandoned the lawsuit and agreed to a $5 million settlement with Vivid Entertainment, although some have speculated that Kim and her mother Kris Jenner were behind the tape’s publication, which they both deny.
Ray J apparently gave Kim the idea of releasing the tape to the Daily Mail, and she and Jenner supposedly went with it. He stated the mother-daughter duo signed a deal for two cassettes, one of which was published in 2007 and was shot on a vacation in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, and the other of which was shot in Santa Barbara, California, but was never released.
