Rafael Nadal Advances To Roland Garros Final After Alexander Zverev Retires

After suffering a serious injury in his French Open semi-final against Rafael Nadal on Friday afternoon, Alexander Zverev was forced to retire.

The two players battled it out for 91 minutes in the opening set. Nadal came out on top, saving four set chances on his way to a 10-8 tiebreaker victory.

The second set was much of the same, with both players showing off their skills on the court.

When the German twisted his ankle in the 12th game of the set, disaster struck.

Nadal was battling tooth and nail to protect his serve and force a tie-break. He was able to do so, but Zverev twisted his ankle while attempting to return the ball, causing instant worry.

Zverev quickly slumped to the ground and screamed in pain.

He was ultimately hoisted up by doctors and wheeled off the court. He reappeared on crutches five minutes later and retired from the match.
