Days after a U.S. soccer journalist died after collapsing during a World Cup game, another journalist has died while covering the international event.

Khalid al-Misslam, a photojournalist for the regional sports station Al Kass TV, died on Saturday, according to the Doha-based Gulf Times.

“Al-Misslam, a Qatari, died suddenly while covering the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. We believe in Allah’s mercy and forgiveness for him, and send our deepest condolences to his family,” the Gulf Times wrote on Twitter.

Uncertainty surrounds the circumstances of al-Misslam’s death.

American sports writer Grant Wahl, who had worked for Sports Illustrated and CBS Sports, passed away in Qatar after falling during the Argentina-Netherlands game. At 48, Wahl.

Wahl was treated at the stadium “for about 20 to 25 minutes,” according to World Soccer magazine journalist Keir Radnedge, before being taken to a nearby hospital.

“This was towards the end of extra time in the match. Suddenly, colleagues up to my left started shouting for medical assistance. Obviously, someone had collapsed. Because the chairs are freestanding, people were able to move the chairs, so it’s possible to create a little bit of space around him,” Radnedge said.
