Premier League set for its own Drive to Survive-style Netflix series

The film company behind Netflix’s well-liked Formula One feature approached the Premier League, and now the league will have its own “Drive to Survive”-style Netflix series.

The clubs were reportedly told of the proposals this week, according to a report in The Times.

With four seasons already aired, “Formula 1: Drive to Survive” has proven to be immensely popular on Netflix. The series examines each Formula 1 season, highlighting the ups and downs by putting different teams and drivers front and center during the race.

The British-based Box To Box Films, the production company behind that series, now plans to create a Premier League equivalent.

Make Us Dream, a documentary about Steven Gerrard, and the boxing series “The Kings” were both produced by Box To Box Films.

They have already spoken with Premier League teams about their ambitions.

There are still many issues that need to be resolved in the details. For instance, how much access clubs will have to the backstage areas and how many highlights they would be allowed to air. The 20 clubs will then make a choice.

Both the production company and the Premier League have declined to comment.
