Pierre Gasly will drive for Alpine F1 in 2023

Beginning in 2023, Pierre Gasly will team up with Esteban Ocon to form an all-French lineup at Alpine, while Nyck de Vries, a Dutchman, will take his place at Alpha Tauri.

The two moves come after Fernando Alonso decided to leave Alpine for Aston Martin after they refused to give him what he wanted in a new contract.

Red Bull decided to release Gasly from his contract, marking the first time in his career that he has left an organization.

After spending years on the outside of Formula 1, De Vries makes his full-time debut.

Gasly, 26, said he was “delighted to begin this new chapter in my F1 career”.

“Driving for a team that has French roots is something very special,” he said. “I know the strengths of Alpine having raced against them over the past couple of years and, clearly, their progress and ambition is very impressive.”

Since 1994, Gasly and Ocon make up the first all-French driver lineup in F1.
