North Macedonia knocks Italy out of the World Cup With a 92nd-minute stunner

 

 

Italy will not compete in the 2022 World Cup after being defeated in a play-off in Palermo by North Macedonia.

 

With a 1-0 loss to North Macedonia on Thursday, Italy was eliminated from World Cup contention.

Late in the play-off, the defending Euro champions conceded, sealing their destiny.

With a low strike from beyond the area, Aleksandar Trajkovski scored the game-winning goal.

 

Italy controlled 70 percent of the possession and 32 shots on goal, but were caught off guard late in the game by some classic route one football.
