Nigerian football team go viral for ‘match fixing’

In a cup final penalty shootout, a Nigerian football team appears to have been exposed for match-fixing.

Remo Stars and Ijebu United squared off in the 2022 Ogun State FA Cup final, which proceeded to penalties after neither team could score during regulation time.

And the shootout was where things really began to become sketchy.

One of Ijebu United’s penalty attempts resulted in a rather tame effort that found the back of the net while the opposing goalkeeper stayed on his line and did nothing.

But compared to one of Remo Stars’ penalties, which has gained a lot of media attention recently on social media, that was absolutely nothing.

The player, whose name we do not yet know, stepped up and attempted to score from 12 yards, but with a reckless swing of his boot, sent the ball out for a throw-in.

The video is indeed as bizarre as it sounds, and to make matters worse, the player in question put his hands on his head to try to give the impression that he was looking towards the back of the net.
