In advance of its premiere in January, a new trailer for the HBO adaptation of The Last of Us has been released.

Pedro Pascal plays the main character Joel in the series, which is obviously based on the same-named 2013 video game from Naughty Dog and Sony. The tale revolves around Joel’s attempts to smuggle a teenage girl out of a quarantine zone after the destruction of civilization, as fans of the game are already aware.

Fans can get a better look at how The Last of Us’s universe has been developed for this format in the new trailer, which also teases the appearance of additional characters that aren’t present in the game.

Bella Ramsey, Gabriel Luna, Anna Torv, Nick Offerman, Nico Parker, Murray Bartlett, Melanie Lynskey, and other actors join Pascal in the cast. Ashley Johnson and Troy Baker, who provided the voices for Pedro and Bella in the first game and its sequel, will also appear in the series, as was previously revealed.

The new show, which will debut on January 15 on HBO and HBO Max, is written and executive produced by Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann. Nine episodes will make up the first season of the Sony Pictures Television co-produced show.
