New Media Courses Announced By Jay-Z’s Roc Nation School

New courses for this Autumn will be created as Jay-Z’s Roc Nation School of Music, Sports and Entertainment will begin working with advertising agency, Wieden+Kennedy.

Brooklyn’s Long Island University will be home to the school where a Creative Promotion in Media program will be created. Classes including “Hood Marketing 101: How Blackness is Bought,” “How to Be a Good Troublemaker” and “Nothing is an accident” will be presented with an impetus on education around marketing and advertising of today.

Celebrities including hip-hop producer 9th Wonder and rapper Megan Thee Stallion are set to provide their expertise in the fields with guest lectures to be included in the program.  

Wieden+Kennedy’s expertise will be fundamental in the school’s promotion. The agency have helped to develop successful advertising work like Nike’s “Just Do It” as well as working with McDonald’s and Coca-Cola in the past.

The Creative Director of Wieden+Kennedy, Michael Hagos, who will also provide guest lectures in the program, is quoted by Hypebeast saying:

“How culture gets made is mostly a mystery. We want to show more people how to get in the room, how to claim a seat at the table, and how to channel their unique voice and creativity to solve business problems.”

The Roc Nation School of Music, Sports and Entertainment will take enrolments later this year.
