Although The Continental, the next prequel series, and Ballerina, the spin-off film, don’t yet have a set release date, a 2023 to 2024 window seems reasonable given how far along both projects are in the development process. We do, however, know that John Wick: Chapter 4 will be released in late March of 2023 and that we now, at long last, have a new trailer that offers us a better idea of how the new entry in the gun-fu franchise will play out.
More weapons, sword fights, nightclubs, and dogs were promised in the sneak peek that we debuted in July; the new trailer confirms that promise and ups the ante by presenting more epic action. It also emphasizes Wick’s exploration of the desert sands, Parisian streets, and museums. There are many other possible plot twists for this movie, yet the trailer ends with the sense that there is only “one way out” and “no way back.”
Will Wick actually survive? Reeves will reunite with Laurence Fishburne, his former Matrix co-star, in John Wick 4. In addition to Ian McShane, Charon (Lance Reddick) will make a comeback in the movie. Donnie Yen, Shamier Anderson, Bill Skarsgrd, Rina Sawayama, Hiroyuki Sanada, Scott Adkins, and Clancy Brown round out the cast.
