Netherlands international Steven Berghuis joins Ajax from Feyenoord

Netherlands winger Steven Berghuis has officially made the bold move from Feyenoord to rivals Ajax, putting pen to paper on a four-year deal.

The 29-year-old, who departs as captain of Feyenoord, joins Ajax in a transfer worth a reported €4m, as per Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano.

Feyenoord fans have understandably been very vocal about Berghuis’s decision with the club even putting out a statement for supporters to stop making threats towards the Dutchman.

Berghuis has excelled in his last four seasons in the Eredivisie since joining Feyenoord initially on a loan deal from Watford, being making the move permanent in 2017.

The former FC Twente and AZ Alkmaar man has scored 64 goals in 121 league appearances in this time as Ajax have surely got themselves a bargain with this signing.
