NBA’s Anthony Edwards fined $40,000 for homophobic comments on Instagram
Anthony Edwards, a guard for the Minnesota Timberwolves, was penalized $40,000 (£31,100) for using homophobic comments on social media.
The NBA fined the 21-year-old for using “offensive and derogatory language” in an Instagram video posted earlier this month.
Later, Edwards removed the video and apologized.
“What I said was immature, hurtful, and disrespectful, and I’m incredibly sorry,” he tweeted.
“It’s unacceptable for me or anyone to use that language in such a hurtful way, there’s no excuse for it, at all. I was raised better than that!”
