Naomi Osaka won’t be talking to the Press at French Open due to Mental Health Reasons

Tennis superstar Naomi Osaka confirmed that she won’t be talking to the media during the French Open grand slam, citing the impact press conferences have on players’ mental health.

Despite fines being issued for not attending conferences, the Japanese sensation revealed that she will be donating all the proceeds will go towards a mental health charity.

On Thursday, Osaka took to social media with the statement which saw supportive replies from fellow tennis player Venus Williams and singer Nicki Minaj.

Venus has previously been fined for refusing to talk to the media in the past as well as her sister Serena. “Girl, do you. Your life is yours to live! 🔥🔥🔥🔥❤️❤️❤️” was her response.

Roland Garros will be commencing on May 30, where 23-year-old Osaka is looking to win her first French Open title, having won the Australian Open and US Open twice.
