Morbius Final Trailer is Released

Today, Sony released the last trailer for Morbius, offering us a glimpse into the conflicted character of Michael Morbius, a biochemist turned vampire who must fight his new bloodlust in order to uncover who he is meant to be.

The new trailer plays into one of the film’s central tensions, as well as the central conflicts of most superhero origin stories — except that this film, like Venom, will look into the beginnings of one of Marvel’s most well-known villains. The trailer begins with Michael Keaton’s words “find who you’re meant to be,” followed by a glimpse into Morbius’ predatory instincts as he unleashes a wave of damage and death in the engine room of a gigantic ship, implying the film’s horror leanings.

Following this, the trailer digs even more into the film’s vampiric mythology, as Michael Morbius struggles to come to terms with his horrific new skills and habits. Loxias Crown’s (Matt Smith) statements that he is “the bad guy,” powerful remarks coming from Morbius’ arch-rival and possible contradiction to Morbius’ divided image of his own skills, add to Morbius’ internal struggle.

Finally, the trailer makes us want to see where Jared Leto’s Morbius will go. Daniel Espinosa directs Morbius, which is based on a script by Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless. The film is produced by Avi Arad, Matt Tolmach, and Lucas Foster. Morbius is an hour and forty-eight minute picture, which is shorter than the average Marvel feature but promises to be action-packed and terrifying.

Morbius has had a long trip to cinemas, having been postponed six times before landing on its ultimate release date of April 1, a date that further adds to the film’s epic journey to theaters. The ongoing COVID pandemic has been the major cause of delays, with several of the film’s release dates falling on COVID variant flare-ups. But, assuming any additional delays, we’ll soon be able to learn more about Michael Morbius, the living vampire, and his beginnings.
