Metro Boomin has reportedly sold a portion of his music library to Shamrock Capital for about of $70 million, according to Billboard.
Earlier in December, the super producer released Heroes & Villains, his second studio album. Future, Young Thug, Don Toliver, Travis Scott, 21 Savage, John Legend, Chris Brown, Young Nudy, The Weeknd, Mustafa, Gunna, and the late Migos rapper Takeoff all made appearances on the album, which Morgan Freeman narrated. Heroes & Villains sold 185,000 album-equivalent copies in its first week of release, propelling it to the top place on the Billboard 200.
A Metro spokesperson declined to comment on the alleged contract with Shamrock Capital.
The 29-year-old has produced 99 entries on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart, including two No. 1 singles, and has a long list of hits to his credit. Also, as a musician, he has appeared on the Top 100 chart 46 times. Not All Heroes Wear Capes, Metro’s first studio album, was released in 2018. The musician collaborated with 21 Savage, Offset, and Big Sean in 2017 for Without Warning and Double or Nothing, respectively. 2020 saw Metro collaborating with 21 Savage once more on the album Savage Mode II.
