Matt Reeves reveals that Bruce Wayne, played by Robert Pattinson, is inspired by Kurt Cobain

In a recent Empire interview, the ‘Batman’ director spilt the beans on the inspiration for his version of Bruce Wayne, with Pattinson portraying the rich playboy by day and the Caped Crusader at night.
Surprisingly, it was the late Nirvana frontman who influenced RP’s style, which makes perfect sense. We now know why the individual has a scruffy appearance.

When it comes to working up a new viewpoint, Reeves says… “I listen to music as I write, and I was writing the first act when listening to Nirvana’s ‘Something In The Way.'”

He adds, “That’s when it came to me that, rather than make Bruce Wayne the playboy version we’ve seen before, there’s another version who had gone through a great tragedy and become a recluse. So, I started making this connection to Gus Van Sant’s Last Days, and the idea of this fictionalized version of Kurt Cobain being in this kind of decaying manor.”

Without a doubt, that’s a lovely homage to Kurt. Fans, though, are pointing out that Pattinson’s Wayne look is more emo than punk rock. Or at least it was until this new photo of Bob appeared, in which his hair is a little messier โ€” and he looks like Kurt Cobain.
