Matt Damon and Ben Affleck Reunite for a Film About Nike’s Attempt to Sign Michael Jordan

Ben Affleck and Matt Damon, who reunited for 2021’s “The Last Duel,” spent more than two decades to write a second film together after “Good Will Hunting.”

The Cambridge duo will not be as patient this time.

According to various trade journals, Affleck and Damon are joining up to develop an untitled picture based on former Nike executive Sonny Vaccaro, who signed Michael Jordan to his first sneaker deal and forever changed the sports marketing industry.

Affleck will direct and star as Nike co-founder Phil Knight, with Damon as Vaccaro. In addition to reuniting Damon and Affleck as screenwriters, this will be Affleck’s first time directing Damon in a film.

Damon is presently filming “Oppenheimer,” a movie about the theoretical physicist who helped America build nuclear weapons, in Christopher Nolan’s direction. J. Robert Oppenheimer is played by Cillian Murphy, while Leslie Groves Jr. is played by Matt Damon.

In the meanwhile, Affleck has finished filming Robert Rodriguez’s “Hypnotic,” a mystery/thriller about a detective investigating his missing daughter and a hidden government program.
