Marilyn Manson files defamation suit against sexual abuse allegations of Evan Rachel Wood

Marilyn Manson is suing Rachel Evan Wood, his former fiancée, for allegedly fraudulent statements that “derailed” his career. Wood openly accused Manson of physical and emotional abuse throughout their years-long relationship, and the lawsuit comes more than a year after she publicly accused Manson of physical and emotional abuse.

Manson alleges Wood conspired with her on-again, off-again romantic partner Illma Gore to fraudulently portray him as a rapist and sexual predator, according to the lawsuit acquired by Deadline. According to the court records, Wood and Gore attempted to smear his reputation by contacting potential accusers and encouraging them to make false charges against him. The defendants, according to Manson (real name Brian Warner), gave the accusers checklists and scripts that included “specific alleged acts of abuse that they should claim against Warner.”

Gore allegedly hacked Manson’s email and social media accounts, as well as creating false emails impersonating him and his lawyer, according to Manson. He claims that the pair even pretended to be FBI agents in order to make his accusers fear that their families were in danger.

Per the suit:

They impersonated an actual agent of the Federal Bureau of Investigation by forging and distributing a fictitious letter from the agent, to create the false appearance that Warner’s alleged “victims” and their families were in danger, and that there was a federal criminal investigation of Warner ongoing (Attachment A);

They provided checklists and scripts to prospective accusers, listing the specific alleged acts of abuse that they should claim against Warner (Attachments B and C); and

They made knowingly false statements to prospective accusers (which have since been repeated by those accusers in court filings), including the defamatory claim that Warner filmed the sexual assault of a minor.
