Manchester United’s Mason Greenwood charged with attempted rape

Mason Greenwood, a football player for Manchester United, has been charged with attempted rape, using abusive behavior, and assault.

The forward was detained in January as a result of accusations revealed in online photos and videos.

On Saturday, he was taken into custody once more for allegedly violating his bail.

The charges allegedly involved the same female complainant, according to the prosecution. On Monday, Mr. Greenwood is scheduled to appear at Manchester and Salford Magistrates’ Court.

The 21-year-old, who has played once for England’s senior men’s team, has not participated in any games or training sessions with Manchester United since his arrest.

He lost his sponsorship from Nike, and Electronic Arts took him out of the Fifa 22 game’s active squads.

According to Janet Potter of the Crown Prosecution Service North West, charges against Mr. Greenwood for attempted rape, using coercive or controlling behavior, and assault causing actual bodily harm have been given to Greater Manchester Police.

The claimed assault happened in December of last year, while the alleged rape allegedly took place on October 22, 2021.
