In a move that would cost around £60 million, Manchester United has made an approach to sign Brazil midfielder Casemiro from Real Madrid.
If the 30-year-old chose to join the team that is now last in the Premier League after two games, he would become one of the highest-paid players at the organization.
United have resorted to Casemiro in an effort to solve Erik ten Hag’s midfield’s flaws after negotiations to buy Adrien Rabiot from Juventus broke down due to the player’s demands.
Three La Liga championships and five Champions Leagues have been won by Casemiro since joining Real in 2013.
Despite the fact that Casemiro’s contract is set to expire in 2025, Real are aware of the size of United’s offer, which includes a deal that, if the option for an additional season is exercised, could extend to 2027. In the event that he chose to accept, they wouldn’t get in the way.
Even though his position at Real is in jeopardy due to the entrance of new player Aurelien Tchouameni, he would join United on a hefty contract in keeping with his profile as one of the 30 players nominated for this year’s Ballon D’Or.
One of the best defensive midfielders in the world, Casemiro has excelled on a Real team that tends to drop deep when it loses possession thanks to the presence of Luka Modric and Toni Kroos.
The Brazil international spent the 2014–15 season on loan at Porto in Portugal, but after Real activated his buy-back clause, he returned to Spain the following year.
He has 222 appearances and 24 goals for the Spanish powerhouses.
