The transfer of Swiss defender Manuel Akanji from Borussia Dortmund to Manchester City is now in advanced talks.
Although a deal has not yet been reached, Akanji, 27, is expected to cost around £15 million.
Akanji, who transferred from Basel to Dortmund in 2018, is now in his last year of service.
Pep Guardiola, the manager of City, believes he needs a third center defender because both Aymeric Laporte and Nathan Ake are injured.
Along with the now-City striker Erling Haaland, Akanji played 158 times for Dortmund, helping them win the German Cup in 2021.
He hasn’t yet made an appearance for the Bundesliga team this year.
